Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves made medical marijuana legal for health conditions by signing a law on Feb. 2, and now, a cannabis production facility is being built in Hinds County near the city of Raymond.
The facility is expected to open in the coming months and will create and grow medical marijuana products. Plans include the hiring of 150 to 200 people.
In June, Mississippi’s health department intends to begin accepting applications online for licenses for medical practitioners, patients, cannabis cultivation facilities and others.
The first dispensaries are still months from opening due to the time needed to establish the licensing system.
