A Jackson-based analytical cannabis testing laboratory has become the first of its kind in Mississippi to begin the accreditation process.Steep Hill Mississippi will undergo the process with Perry Johnson Laboratory Accreditation, which is a third-party accreditation body. “We are excited about starting this process with PJLA”, said Cliff Osbon, president and co-founder of Steep Hill Mississippi. “ISO 17025 Accreditation not only shows a laboratory’s competence in testing and producing reliable data, it gives peace of mind to our customers knowing their products meet state regulatory requirements.”Gov. Tate Reeves signed the medical marijuana law in February after it was passed by the legislature. Cities and counties in Mississippi have until the first week of May to decide if they want to opt-out of allowing medical marijuana businesses.The Mississippi State Department of Health has set a June 1 deadline for rules and regulations, and there are another 30 days for license approvals.
