IF YOU HAVE WONDERED WHAT IT’S LIKE TO BE A MEDICAL MARIJUANA PATIENT, OR MAYBE JUST HAVE QUESTIONS CONCERNING IT. OUR DANNY TODD HAS INFORMATION CONCERNING AN EVENT TOMORROW THAT PROMISES TO PROVIDE A LOT OF ANSWERS.
Meridian area residents will have the opportunity to become more informed about the medical marijuana process in Mississippi, and also have information about how they can get certified and get some of the questions they may have answered. This event is free to the public and takes place tomorrow at the Holiday Inn from 5:30-7:30.
KEN NEWBURGER- EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR MISSISSIPPI MEDICAL MARIJUANA ASSOCIATION SAYS “We will be hosting an event in Meridian at the Holiday Inn on Frontage Road at 100 North Frontage Road. Meridian will be having a doctor come in and talk about what it’s like to become a medical marijuana patient.”
Executive Director Ken Newburger promises this seminar will be extremely helpful for those who have questions about using medical marijuana.
KEN NEWBURGER says ” We’re really, really excited about this. We’ve been doing this across the state, having events so people can come and, learn how to get a card. If you’re interested in becoming a patient and also learn about the different benefits and different ways to use medical marijuana.”
Ken Newburger stressed that there are a lot of misconceptions about medical marijuana. Tomorrow’s seminar will present testimonies from people who have been positively affected by this new medical option.
Ken Newburger says “So, what we’re really here to do is talk about how medical marijuana can provide relief for suffering patients with debilitating conditions. A lot of cancer patients have been coming out. A lot of people who have struggled with long-term chronic pain.”
Ken Newburger tells Twin States News that medical marijuana is an issue the people of Mississippi have voted on for the past four years, and now it’s something that shouldn’t be dismissed. He understands there are a lot of questions about the process, and that’s why they want to invite everyone to this event.
KEN NEWBURGER says ” You might have heard a lot about it in the news or online and people discuss it. This is a place to get some real facts about what it can do for you from a real, you know, Mississippi physician and people who have set up shop right here in Meridian to grow, process, and sell medical marijuana.”
Again, this event will take place tomorrow, Thursday, December 15th, at 5:30 at the Holiday Inn on 100 North Frontage Road.

THE FOLLOWING IS THE PRESS RELEASE REGARDING THE EVENT:
State medical marijuana association to host event Thursday at Holiday Inn
Meridian area residents will have the opportunity to become informed about qualifying conditions for medical marijuana and how to get certified at a presentation by the Mississippi Medical Marijuana Association (3MA).
The free public event will be presented Thursday, Dec. 15, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., at Holiday Inn, 100 North Frontage Road.
Dr. Kirk L. Kinard, D.O., will discuss the process to getting a medical marijuana patient certification. According to a release, Kinard believes medical marijuana, when prescribed with good judgement and oversight, will be a “good therapeutic medication option for many patients suffering from chronic debilitating conditions.”
Kinard, who practices in Oxford, has worked in pain management since 2008, focusing his treatments on key treatment goals (pain relief, improved physical function, enhanced quality of life), while minimizing the role of medications which can result in chemical dependency and addiction. He has teamed with many of his trusted colleagues across the state to bring the same experience and passion they have for their own pain management practices to the medical cannabis evaluation process.
Kinard founded Pause Pain and Wellness medical clinics to “serve as extensions of an established multidisciplinary approach to pain management, while offering patients a pressure-free, stigma-free setting to learn more about the possible role of this ‘new’ treatment option,” according to the release.
In addition to Kinard, a representative of Southern Crop, the first entity licensed for cultivation and processing of marijuana in Mississippi, will share what it is like to buy medical cannabis from a dispensary as well as detail the various options.
The presentation also will include appointment scheduling with a local clinic. To sign up visit www.medicalmarijuanams.com
