Eight people were taken to a hospital after a car chased by Pearl police crashed into another vehicle in Jackson.Greg Flynn, a spokesman for the city of Pearl, said the incident began about 1 a.m. Friday when an officer tried to stop a red Dodge Charger because it didn’t have a license plate. Flynn said the driver of the Charger, who had a passenger in the car, sped off, with the officer in pursuit. The chase ended at Raymond Road and Ellis Avenue, when the Charger crashed into a Jeep with six juveniles inside. According to Flynn, the two people in the charger and the six people in the Jeep were all taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Their names and conditons were not released. Flynn said a stolen gun and marijuana was found inside the Charger. Charges have not yet been filed because the two people who were in the charger, both or whom Flynn said are adults, remain hospitalized.The six people in the Jeep are all under the age of 18, Flynn said. Officers with the Jackson Police Department blocked off traffic at the scene of the crash, but the Mississippi Highway Patrol was called in to investigate the wreck, Flynn said.
