CBD stores, Dispensaries searched by state, local officials

Update: According to a release from DOR, agents with the Mississippi Alcoholic Beverage Control Bureau of Enforcement with assistance from the Oxford Police Department, Lafayette County Metro Narcotics Task Force and Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office executed multiple warrants in Lafayette County stemming from an investigation concerning violations of the Mississippi Medical Cannabis Act. One suspect has been taken into custody with charges pending.

State and local law enforcement searched an Oxford CBD store and medical marijuana dispensary Monday morning.
The owner, Tony Barragan, left the scene with police.
Mississippi Department of Revenue Alcohol Beverage Control agents and Oxford police officers arrived at Hybrid Relief Medical Dispensary and Hybrid CBD at about 11:30 a.m.
The two businesses are located in adjacent shopping centers off West Jackson Avenue.
Police searched Barragan’s vehicle while others were inside the stores.
It was unknown as of press time what the agents and police were looking for or why Barragan was taken into custody.
Oxford Police Chief Jeff McCutchen said more information would likely be released after the investigation. Calls to ABC were unanswered as of Monday afternoon.
